question 1: Probably be best tpo buy some branded, like kingston if you wanted to upgrade, but 1 gig is sufficient for most people

question 2: Keep it, unless you want loadsmore storage space, i wouldn't say SATA drives are much, if any faster than normal ide

question 3: Either stick with it or go for media centre, i have media centre and i don't really think there is much of an advantage with it, unless you are using your pc in a home theatre, in which case install media centre, and i wouldn't even consider xp 64 unless you are confident that you can find drivers for all your hardware, as there are lots of compatability issues with it, and not really much performance increase

hope that helps you

yes thanks, it does.

reassurance really.

in the far future, i may get more ram, but for now...its sweet.

cheers!

Question 3 :

Stick with XP, it is still an overall great operating system, and Windows Vista just won't be that great, not to mention how many bugs OS's have when they first release.

As for the 64 Bit Edition, it really isn't that great, I have personally tried it and have seen it no better, just crapper driver support especially for audio and network.
