i believe $300 is the cheapest amd dual core gets.
thats why if i were you, i would wait a bit longer...
especially when the new socket is comming out.

the socket 939's can drop there price.

its not for me its for a friend who doesnt want to shame her 7900GT with the wrong processor.. at 2.6GHz, which would preform better?

you can't even get a high grade single core proc for $200, (i believe the 4000+ is around $300) 7900gt is a good card though... you'll want at least a 3700+ for single core, or a 4200+ dual core (at least! unless of course its going to be o/ced, in that case get the cheapest of the dual cores that you can find, they o/c to 2.4ghz QUITE easily)
