optimizing to get more speed?

Your computer's processing power does affect connection speeds if you are transferring large files over a LAN, like to transfer a couple of gigabytes from 2 dual core machines over a LAN would transfer faster than between 2 fairly older machines. I mean it wouldn't take that much longer but that's about the only time you would notice, otherwise as far as internet connection goes, if you were to download a 10mb file off a website, any computer, especially anything fairly new should be able to download the same file as fast as the next one, providing your using the same internet connection.

That may be true, but he was referring to internet speeds.

Now as I said earlier, it won't increase your download speed, however if your computer is running very slowly then web pages with flash, and lots of media will run faster after dong some major cleanup and optimizing.

a faster comp will help flash objects and animations play better, but 4 browsing the web i recommend Firefox over IE (duh...) it has been proven to surf slightly faster, or if you want a different environment totally, go with opera, it is supposed to be the fastest, however you may not even notice a difference.
