OS X using Vista with Parallels and Boot Camp - BSOD on startup

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.1) on my Macbook Pro (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). After the upgrade, I found that Parallels 3.0 was not compatible with the new OS. I downloaded a trial of Parallels 4.0, and it attempted to convert the files associated with Vista to a new format. It ran into a permission error along the way, likely because my computer technically belongs to my school until I graduate and I don't have full admin rights. Now when I try to boot into Vista, I get a BSOD on startup. I also have VMware Fusion, and Vista WILL successfully boot and run as a VM (but much slower than it did with Parallels). I still have the .pvs file and stuff backed up from the upgrade process, and I'd like to restore the previous settings if possible...
Suggestions or ideas?
I'd prefer not to have to go to the IT dept. They don't support Snow Leopard yet, and their solution would be a re-image of my HDD :(

Problem solved! I got a hold of Parallels 5.0 beta and it completed the upgrade process flawlessly. I can boot into Vista without a roblem now too.
It never fails, I'll struggle with something for days and then as soon as I post here asking for help I practically trip over the solution.
