other than looks, is xp better

i recently got a computer with 7800 gt, AMD 64 -3200, 1 gig of ram, etc... how much of a difference would getting xp over my 2k OS?

Well I would definitely say that it is better. However, I would only consider 2000 VS XP Pro for that matter. As far as I know, in terms of support and updates go, XP Pro is a better choice. In terms of support and drivers, XP Pro would be a better choice. Remember that XP Pro is based on Windows 2000, so naturally, it would have features that did not exist in 2000. You should expect less complications with XP when it comes to software etc.

Once they get the major bugs out of an OS, the new one is almost always better. XP has much better security than previous versions, since it was built off of 2000.

I have used both in the last month. I like xp pro a lot better because it is more reliable, and runs faster. I would go with xp PRO it i was you
