Had my computer for 3 to 4 years now and recently had a problem where my computer would, in a way, shutdown and my monitor would state 'out of range' but all the lights would still be on as usual. This is when the computer is at idle.

At the time of writing this i updated veiwsonic monitor driver and geforce graphics driver just in case, and so far hasn't shut off, but time will tell.

Oh yeah using Speedfan 4.37, GPU at 51C if that makes any difference which i think it mite (Geforce 6600 pitiful i know but no gaming for me anymore)

Any help would be great. Cheers, Nathan.

When a monitor says "Out of Range" it means it's recieving a either a refresh rate or a resolution that's it's unable to display. This certainly sounds like a heat issue and your computer is locking up. Make sure your case is free from dust and that the fans are moving freely. BTW the 6600 is still a good card that can play most games out today.

forgot to mention that i had already cleaned all the dust out, but now it seems to be doing it less. Most likely a heat issue as you said, but just wanted to get on a forum before it done it again.
GPU still hovering around the 51c mark, may need to try and clean it again with something other that the hoover and blowing on it, lol :o
Yeah graphics card would play most games but i would rather play them with something higher, maybe upgrade down the line.
Cheers, Nathan

I'm now not so sure if it is a heat issue as i left it on all day today to test it and it didn't shutdown once, apart from when i first started it up, once everything was loaded.
Could it still be a heat issue and act like this?
Cheers
GPU still at 51c
