Outdated?

Recently i've started doing some video editing and playing around with blender.
And my E7200, its starting to show its weaknesses, so i'm thinking about upgrading.

Option 1
I've thought about getting a Q9450/Q9400(anyone know the difference?) and another 2GB of RAM. I'd probs be doing this in 2-3 months (I like the plan ahead :D)
Would my mobo (in sig) run the 45nm processor or not?
Is DRR2 outdated?

Option 2
Get and I7 920 rig.
This is obviously going to be alot more as ill have to upgrade Mobo/Ram/GPU as well.

Is there a significant difference between the quads and the I7's? Are the Quads & DDR2 outdated?


If anyone has any suggestions for upgrades let me know :)

(dont worry about money yet, if i can work out what i want now, i work for them in the coming months ;))

if you can afford the budget, the i7 would be the way to go, the difference between the 9450, and the 9400 is something like 6mb's of cache
 
Yeh, but is there a huge difference?
Theres no point me getting I7 unless i'm really going to use it.
I do some editing and some graphics on my pc, but nothing really strenuous.

Anyone else got any suggestions?
