Outlook express

Hi

I was wondering, when setting up an outlook express account, why is it that you can use any random e-mail address. both EXISTING and non-existing. i.e. both [email protected] (fake e-mail address and provider) and [email protected] (legitimate e-mail address and provider) would work. So how is it that you can use the e-mail address, AND have it appear as being sent from that e-mail, even though it might not be yours.

Does it make a difference whether it's an existing e-mail provider or not? In the sense that if it were an existing provider they would be aware of it being used etc... Or does the use of an e-mail address not have an effect on the actual existing account, and provider.

This is something that I found a bit confusing, hope someone could help.

Thanks

No, I am not a spamming person. I wanted to understand the concept behind it, since it does work.

Well it can't work...... the ISP needs to have the e-mail address on their system / server otherwise it will not work.
