Oveclocking my old AXP 2600+

I know that each cpu clocks differently and mobos go into play, but with a 400w ps w/ +12 20a how high do u think i can go? (i will have an extra vent going so it'll be the stock cooling and a bit extra)

Hmm, I don't think overclocking really depends on your PSU, I think its mostly on your cooling, the quality of your RAM and your motherboard. What kind of RAM and what kind of motherboard do you have?

Man, the PSU is a huge deal when it comes to overclocking. If you've got a PSU with really good rails, then your overclock will be more stable and you'll be able to push it higher and not have to worry about power fluxuations and a lack of power going to the core. Have you read OC101?

It does also depend on your RAM and motherboard. I've hit a 1.0GHz overclock with really crappy RAM by setting in place dividers however. As mentioned, what is your motherboard?

The Athlon XP is pretty old, and I think it runs at somewhere around 1.9GHz (?). I'd say a nice OC to 2.5 and maybe beyond isn't out of your reach if you do it right nd you have some decent equipment.

thanks, i have 512mb 266 ram right now, but im going to 768mb or 1gb soon, on my brothers 2nd comp he oc'ed a AXP 2800+ to 2.7 ghz with about the same specs, but theh more input the better

Very true that the PSU matters, however its not the most important factor.

We cant tell you how much of an overclock you can get with just your PSU specs, its like asking how fast a vehicle can go if it has a V6.
