Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. The curiosity of pushing my computer a little harder has brought me here. Now i don't want to put any more money into this thing so I want to know how far I can go with my set up. I'm not too familiar with the frequencies or speeds but I do know everything is set to default.

Here's my machine.

PROC: AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0GHz)
MEM: 1024MB RAM PC3200 DDR
MB: ASUS A7N8X-X
VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 128MB
OS: XP Home SP2

Like i said everything is default. Anyone have experience with these pieces of hardware. I'm interested is OCing the geforce card too.

I run games like: Starwars Empire At War, Command and Conquer 3, HALO PC, Hitman Blood Money, FarCry, Half-Life pretty well. I just want too see how much more I can make it do.

That CPU is a crap OCer (generally pretty much all old CPUs are, maybe apart from NetBurst ones). While you may be lucky enough to have a good-quality chip, I doubt it's going to OC enough to give a noticeable performance boost.

i think it would be your video card holding you back, not your processor. i know you said you dont want to dump cash in an outdated machine, but upgrading your video card would see the largest improvements.

werd a new video card would do wonders. then when you want to upgrade the rest of the setup later, you can keep the video card. well wait, does your current setup use PCI express video card or AGP? if it uses PCI express then you can reuse it later since you would most probably upgrade to a mobo with PCI express.

Dont know if you have your PC3200 running at 200/400 or not. But your processor runs on a 133/266 FSB. On that nForce board you can set your memory and FSB individually. If so set your memory to 133/266 or 166/333, then start raising your FSB up from 133/266 a few mhz at a time till it gets unstable then back the FSB off a few mhz. If you want to go higher you will need to bumb the processor voltage up. But if you do up the processor voltage (keep a eye on your processor temps). XPs heated up pretty fast.
