I got this processor yesterday, and immediately bumped it up to 2.5 then 2.8 and it seems completely stable. It passed a few hours of orthos and gaming, and seems to stay at around 47 under load, 30 at idle. how much further could it go???

also I have DDR2-800 ram @ CL4. When I raised it up to 2.8, the RAM went to 960. I also lowered timings to 5-5-5 to make sure it didn't crash. Is it 1:1 right now? and would it be worth it to lower the timings?

in gaming you wont notice the difference either way, but you could always try bumping some of the timings back down a bit...

i would lower the memory timings back down the original again.
And as long as the temp doesn't get above 60c you can keep going up.

Doesnt look like its at a 1:1 ratio...if it were the ram would be at 800 mhz since our 6550s have a 7x multiplier.

It's better to have the RAM in a 1:1 ratio, and have the RAM at a decent speed.

so how do i set it at 1:1, or determine this? Say it is at 3GHz, what should the RAM be at for 1:1?

The ram would be at about....855 or so. Its the FSB times two since its ddr2 ram. There should be an option in your bios that lets you change the multiplier of your ram and will then display the ratio right below it.

Yeah, I think I figured it out now, thanks guys. There is an option to change the SPD (I think that's what it's called), then there are numbers like 2, 2.4, 3, 4, etc. I selected two, and now the RAM is the same as my FSB, just multiplied by 2.

After a bit of fiddling, my processor seems stable at stock volts at 3.3GHz. Is there any increased risk running at this speed, or is it completely fine? Temps are low... 47 under load, below thirty at idle.

My RAM timings seem to be really bad right now. In CPU-Z it said 5-5-6-21. Can I change this, and would it make a difference?
