Hello I'm new to the forum
I have upgraded the memory in my dell inspiron 1520 laptop. It now has crucial recommended 4GB kit (2GBx2), 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module which is rated at 800Mhz the chipset is the PM965 which is also rated upto 800Mhz and the CPU is an intel core 2 duo T7250 again rated at 800Mhz. the only problem is the system is still running at 667Mhz as set by my old memory. I've had a look in the BIOS but most of the memory and system fields sya they are un changeable. Is there another way to change the FSB speed or reset the BIOS so it will pick up that the new memory is compaible at 800Mhz and set everything else to 800Mhz too?

Many thanks Pughey

i'm not too sure, but this is probably the motherboards limit, oem mobos like the one in your lappy never do as much as others, and the chipset can say up to 800, but the mobo itself only support up to say 667mhz.

Thanks guys
I doubled the memory from 2gb to 4gb which has made a difference, so i'm still happy with the upgrade thanks anyway
