overclocking amd x2 3800+

i need help to oc this cpu. everybody says that they overclock very well but i am having trouble doing so. please take me through it.

Ok, first we need to know the exact specifications of your system.
 
What's your target, how much do you want to OC?

Have you ever OC'ed, do you know the basic steps of OC'ing?

And most important, have you read this?
 
i have done it a little, and i have read that post. i just want to get my core speeds to like 2.2 or 2.3 ghz. not a huge increase. but i just wanted to check first before oc'ing. also, i changed the timmings on my ram. should i take them back to original settings before doing this?
 
Ok, you RAM timmings are fine, you don't need to change that, set them to default state (I think it's 2-3-3-6), make sure the command rate is set to 1T, I'm sure that this CPU will work to 2.2 GHz so simply increase the HTT to 220 (the multiplier is 10X, right?), lower the HT multiplier to 4X (220*4=880, it shouldn't go past 1000), you RAM should work at 440 MHz if mine did, if not lower it to 333 MHz. I'm not familiar with dual core overclock successions but I think that it can handle 200 MHz OC.
