Overclocking an E8500 CPU mildly?

What would be the best way to overclock an E8500 while maintaining stability?
I am not looking to max OC it, but just a tad. Preferrably wit the stock cooler.
Perhaps I can use a better thermal grease, because I do not want to spend
anymore on the computer at the moment.

Also, how much more can you get out of a stock E8500 without changing the voltage?
Is it even possible? Reason for asking this question is because I have heard that
temperatures would see an significant increase if you do not change voltage.
For reference, I have 8GB of PC6400 at 800 MHz Memory and a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P Motherboard.

Also, if anyone much more knowledgable than me knows how this can be done, please
feel free to guide me through the process of actually OC'ing the CPU.

Thanx

You could easily get to about 3.6GHz on stock voltage, maybe more, depending on the CPU.

I have 4.5GHz with 1.32V roughly.

If you have the right motherboard, you can do an AI Overclock. basically it configures the FSB, RAM speed, and CPU voltage (i think). most commonly you can choose between 5%, 10%, and 20% automatic overclocks.
