Overclocking failed..

Hi guys, hopefully you can help me out here. A few weeks ago I had to replace my CPU, and ever since I have been having either failed boot ups where the fans and lights come on but nothing happens on the monitor, or when it does work (about 50% of the time) I get an overclocking failed message, in which it tells me to enter setup to reconfigure my system. To be clear, I have never tried to overclock this system. Today I entered the setup and reset everything to default values, which was apparently a bad idea, because now it won't boot up at all! Lights and fans but no action, every time. I hope you guys have some insight on what happened here and hopefully how to fix it! please let me know if you need any more information.

Edit: After letting it sit for a while, I got it to boot with the OC failed message again. Ran a memory diagnostic, which looked ok all the way through, but results did not come up after restart.

Thanks,
Sam

Did you have another cpu in this motherboard? Did you Clean off the old thermal paste and re- apply the thermal paste? If you had another cpu in the board and it worked, I would say you got a bad chip.

The problem you have is that your motherboard doesn't support the fx-8150. You have an AM3+ cpu in an AM3 motherboard. You'll either need an AM3+ motherboard or an AM3 cpu.

Well it supports it, but only by beta bios. Would have to update the bios with another processor. Update to Bios 3027

You are correct, must have overlooked it when I was looking at the cpu support at Asus website. That had them in the middle. Should have been at the bottom or top.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. However, I just checked my system information, and it seems like I am already running 3027. The only thing is the date that shows up on the system information is earlier than the date stamp on the 3027 update on the ASUS website. would that make any difference?

You say you had to replace your CPU. Sure the problem was with the CPU to start with? Do you have the CPU power 4/8 pin connector pluggged in? Instead of just doing a default values reset, unplug it, hit the power buttom a few times, take the board battery out for a few minutes, put the battery back, plug it back up and see if it will boot.
