hi guys this is my first time EVER overclocking and the reason for wanting to overclock is that my cpu is coming up to the end of its life eg. games not yet, but games in the futher will be to powerfull for cpu so thats why i want to overclock the trouble is i havnt got a cpu/heatsing cooler but ive got 6 case fans. what you guys think

You mean your using the stock cooler that came with the CPU?

First you wanna download something like Everest Temps or Coretemp possible Real Temp to see what your core temps are both idle + highload. If its in the safe range then you can overclock. ASUS makes a temp program too if I recall you can use.

Though for a cheap 30 bucks you can buy a Arctic Pro 64 and it does wonders for Dual-Cores. Near silent on max RPM though if the room was dead silent I am sure you could hear it.

i dont really wanna spend money on my pc as its on its last leg ie in few months itl stop playing high end games, but i will find out what are the temps etc

Everest is free just go to download.com and get it. Works great and should tell you idle and load temps. Post up our temps once you get them. Also for $20 you could get a decent CPU cooler. OC and use CPU-Z to see your new stats.
