Overclocking Noooob

Hi, I found this article.

http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=461&p=1

I have the same chip and almost the same board. Mine is a Asus P5LD2-VM which has the Intel 945G chipset. But I am pretty sure I can do the same here.

But I don't want to go full out Oc to 4.2ghz, I'd be happy with just a little bit.

Can I do less than the 4.2 they did?

What are the consequences to this?

I also have the DDR2/533 ram as well.

Any advice? Thoughts?

The Pentium D 820 processor clock multiplier is set to x14 by default and the BIOS would not allow this value to be altered. First start by increasing the FSB from 200MHz to 300MHz.

standard is @ 14x200=2800mhz
There OC is @ 14X300=4200mhz

find out what you want to OC ur cpu too and use the equation above to get your results !

What are the consequences to this?

OC`in your cpu WILL reduce the life span of it !

Also i would NOT go over 262 on the cpu clock due to your RAM that you have ! And keep an eye out for stability and temp !

14x262=3668mhz

if you have addiquate cooling it wont reduce its life span that much but if you fuel it with to much voltage it will
