overclocking on 790i

My friend has a Q9450 and wants to ask this:

Which votages do i need to raise in order to overclock to 3.6? when ever i set the core to 1.2, windows restarts. is this too low? to high? i cant even overclock to 3. the fastest i can overclock to is 2.93. what should i do? do i need to up the voltages on anything but the cpu core?

Well, Each CPU is different and will require a different amount of Voltage to reach certain speeds.

The Voltage you will be looking at, mainly, is the vCore. I don't know what your Stock CPU vCore is? If the stock voltage is 1.2v and you've gone from 2.66GHz to 2.93GHz with stock voltage, that's about right.

Raise the vCore in the smallest increments possible, so one notch at a time and test for stability.

Also, You have 4GB of RAM, I'm guessing 4 x 1GB, right? You may need to up the MCH (Northbridge) Voltage, As Overclocking with more RAM installed will put more stress on the NB.
