overclocking on new mobo

k so I was overclocking and going by temps on everest, but i was getting like 10C for my cpu which i knew was wrong. well my mobo is the new x38 so i opened the AI suite and it's around 30C which sounds better. here is a pic of speedfan, let me know if i should keep going:

I'm running prime95 right now with my Zalman 9700 fan going at 2/3 speed and it isn't going over 42. I tried putting the bus at 265 and it crapped out, should i up the voltage?

in the bios at VCORE it says [auto] so i checked it and it says it was at 1.312 so i put it at 1.337 (lol leet) and it still didn't work. should i be putting it at 1.337 or just putting .025 as the increase? should i try it on 1.350

Yep, try it. But don't overdo it. Try it step by step. But, if you see that the CPU is at is limit, then stop.

well i put the vcore at 1.4 with 270 bus. it posted and everything, but the windows loading screen never came up. what does this mean?

and in bios i set the DRAM frequency to 818MHz and under CPUz it's showing 409MHz. This is because it is DDR2, so effectively it's 818, correct?

okay so currently i'm at 265bus, 3975MHz and the vcore is at 1.475. I tried to do 270 bus for 4050MHz, but it didn't POST. I upped the vcore in increments all the way to like 1.4925. i really want to break that 4GHz barrier, does anyone have any suggestions? is it safe to go above 1.5v with the P4 530?

It is etchy, If you do you will need to run Prime95 and Memtest for quiet awhile to check for stablility. Make sure you have have plenty of power going to your RAM. Try for a straight 4000mhz 10x400, if you get it, it will be awesome.

i dunno if i can change the multiplier for this p4, i think it's locked at 15. well i put the fsb at 270 and the vcore at 1.52 and it's running stable! i just ran prime95 for a while and there weren't any errors or anything, about to run memtest. i have the memory at 810MHz, i don't see much point in overclocking it at the moment. i'm idling at 32C with 45C load.

to mtb211: how hot does your core2 run? it should be much cooler than mine, but it depends on what case you're using and what heatsink you are. i'm using the zalman 9700 which is a beast. in my laptop this P4 was running at 70C idle so it's definitely the setup i have right now.
