Overclocking Problems

I overclocked my cpu from 2.4 to 2.8 and i had the voltage upped on my ram and the cpu. i ran prime 95 and it wouldnt run for more then a minute and came back with an error but i still left the overlock as it was and it restarted about once or twice a day.

and every 10 minutes or so my screen would go blank on my monitor and would come back on. So then i turned the computer off last night and turned it on this morning and it got to the windows thing with the blue bar going across the screen and then restarted so i put everything back in the bios to stock settings and it still does it i even tried different ram and it still restarts.

Does anybody know whats wrong with it is my cpu fried. I was thinking about reseating my cpu but i need to find my arctic silver 5 first. The specs for my computer are in my sig if you need any more information just ask.

its your hypertransport probably. its running 5x200=1ghz... you upped to 324 or so probably and that made the ram run (if it was originally ddr400) at ddr468, the cpu run at 2.8ghz, and the hypertransport run at 1170mhz... it cant go over 1ghz (1000mhz) or it becomes unstable. it could also be the ram though, if the cpu is overvolted it should be fine though.

#1 - set hypertransport (HTT sometime) multiplier to 4x instead of 5x
(if #1 doesnt make it prime95 stable)
#2 - set memory on a ddr333 (166mhz) memory divider.
(if #2 doesnt make it prime95 stable)
#3 try settings the cpu multiplier to 11x instead of 12x.

if #3 makes it stable, then either the cpu needs more voltage to make it stable (i dont suggest this because voltage adds a LOT of heat) or you need to lower your overclock.
in either case i would run the memory on a divider and the hypertransport on a lower multiplier than 5x... just to be safe, you know.

My motherboard doesnt have the HTT multiplier and what i am saying is i put my computer back to stock settings and my computer wont boot into windows it just randomly restarts do you know what the problem is? Sorry if the the first post was confusing about that.

Dude take the battery and leave it out.One day i desided to overclok and my dad took out the battery and work fine.Try taking the battery out and leaveing it out.:D

Take the battery out. Turn the power off. Push the 'On' button a few times. Then, go and watch TV for an hour.

Return, put battery back in, put power back on, and it should work. It worked for me. (A day seems a bit too much).
