Overclocking processors.

Is it possible to overclock a laptop processor?. how do you do it?, Are there any programs that help in doing this?

You may be able of doing it with some software OCing tools, and/or with a cracked BIOS, but updating BIOS is always risky (you risk screwing your mobo over) and OCing laptops is NOT recommended simply because they can't really cope with the additional heat. Laptop cooling systems aren't designed to cope with much heat, and OCing may well fry your lappy.

Thanks man for the above message . Well...i think i am getting a good processor speed with my current processor. but is it possible to actually improve the performance of your graphic card. I have a intel x3100 and since its shared, i cannot do much when it comes to gaming. I was thinking , is there any way to actually allocate the amount of shared memory?

you could probably do it. Try to post this in CPU's and Overclocking.

You have to be careful not to overclock it to much because in reality, you cant add another heatsink or liquid cool a laptop. ;)

Probably not. Chances are that no overclocking tool is going to work for Intel GMA, and even if it is, the heat applies here as well - laptops aren't designed for overclocking and if you push any components past theirs limits chances are the heat is going to kill them.

Why would you want to oc a laptop.. If so, your talking about more battary usage and would not be so moble like a laptop should be...

overclocking a laptop processor is probably a bad idea. laptops have a hard enough time handling CPU heat as it is.
