overclocking question

I see alot of people that when writing their CPU specs will say like AMD 3200 overclocked to 3500 or something along those lines, and I was wondering, where do they find out the overclocked number. I tried to overclock my 3200+ but I only raised the bus speed up from 200Mhz to 201Mhz. I didnt figure it would make much of a differece, but how many MHZ would I have to go up before I got to a 3400 or 3500, and how would I find out when Ive reached a 3400 or 3500?
 
Okay well your AMD 3200 at its default settings is 2.2GHz. This is your multiplier X FSB. Your multiplier is 11 so (11 X 200 = 2.2) that is where you get the speed of your processor.

As for overclocking to a 3400 or a 3500 that is kind of impossiable because those CPU's are 64bit unlike your 3200 which is 32bit.

but you can still overclock that is a Barton Core which is a good one to OC.
 
I probably should have been more clear about what I have or something, mine is a 64bit processor. Its an AMD64 3200+, im wondering if when I did overclock it, how would i find out when ive reached a 3400 or 3500+. I know by going to my computer>properties, it says "AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ 2.21 GHz, 1.00GB of RAM. So if I overclocked it, would going to my computer properties again tell me if my GHz are higher, or if the 3200+ number is raised? If it wouldnt, then where do so many people go to find out that the are at a higher number, I guess thats all Im asking. thanks again

No it will still read 3200+ and like dave597 said
You increase the Ghz, then you can compare it to another processor by the performance increase you get.

that is how you find if it is compairable to a 3400 or 3500.

Depends on the core of the chip .... regardless, AMD and Intel neither use "Hz" as a rating....

In your BIOS, your processor wouldn't be overclocked unless you did it yourself.

Depends on what you're using to read it :P Hell if I can have a 'Super fluffy' processor :P

But if you go to computer>properties that is just the basic windows software that is reading the system specs. sooo it should right "unsure now cause the uber guru Praetor has made me seconed gues :P "
