Overclocking the e6600 with lower multiplier

Hey everyone. I have been reading everywhere that the e6600 C2D processors are a bad deal because they don't overclock as much at the e6300or e6400. The e6600 with it's 9x multiplier is reportedly experiencing stabilty issues at 400x9. This has prompted many people to go for the e6400 cpu instead.

My main question is this: What do you think about using the asus p5b deluxe mobo with a e6600 and lowering the multiplier to 8 then setting the fsb to 400.This way you would have on oced e6600 with it's 4mb l2 chache running at the same ghz as an oced e6400 at 400x8. They would both then be at 3.2ghz and 1:1 with ddr2 800.

If I am missing something please help me. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks

well i got the e6600.With my asus p5w deluxe and some corsair xms2 ddr2 800.

I have at 2.88 right now with only increasing the frequency. No vcore raise or memory overclocking. For me that is pretty good.E6600 when you increase the vcore and overclock the memory with my p5w deluxe and my zalman s9500 should get up to 3.4 ghz.But if you watercooling my mobo can take 4ghz.E6600 overclocks so easy.I reached that 2.88 without practicly doing much.E6600 could go up to 4ghz with good cooling. But i dont know if it can with p5b because the p5w deluxe is the best core 2duo overclocking board(at least from the results).
