overclocking through BIOS

I've just recently learned exactly what BIOS was lol so i was thinking and when you overclock something through BIOS does that mean that you speed up BIOS which then makes everything else faster? or am i totally wrong? i also dont know a lot about overclocking lol

thanks

Overclocking pertains to certain aspects of your BIOS. Not the whole thing. Google overclocking for something that can explain it WAY better than I can.

most of the time OCing pertains to your CPU, like mine, it was a 2,3 quad and i oc it to 2.75

ill keep it simple 4 u man, i know how it feels

by changing settings in ur BIOS, u can make ur components behave differently

eg make ur CPU run faster or slower

ahh ok ok. and iv been doing some reading and changing the voltage. iv read somewhere you never want to get above a certain voltage or u could fry everything? is this true? and at what point when overclocking would you need to change the voltage?

thanks :]

the higher the voltage the less lifespan of the components, raising the FSB would increase the CPU speed, dont go crazy rasing it, as you do it very slightly raise the cpu voltage, as a faster cpu probably needs more power

basically the more your parts heat up and the more volts flowing thorught them, the shorter the ife span. the heat and higher requirement for volatges come with the overclocking so u get a deal with satan, "ill give u a faster processer but it wont last as long"

maybe try overcloking an older system first

You Could lose life in your components just by idling them. If you want to efficiently and safely overclock, you need
-Good Ventilation in your case
-A non-stock heatsink (my tip)
-No congestion (make sure wires, dust, etc... doesn't get too close to your CPU)
-Don't smoke
-Keep pets out of room
-Make sure all your components can catch up to the CPU (

mmhm i see i see. this has been very helpful :] i dont plan on overclocking anytime soon just wanting to learn about it :P thank you

i fully agree with scotts comments, i too use a non stock fan, keeps the temps down by 10oc and dust and hair would clog up your systems airways

or you could run it with the side panel off
