Overheating

I have a ATI x850 pro AGP in my computer and it ran good for the first couple days. but ever since then my games (NHL 07, San Andreas, etc....) will keep on either minimizing or freezing. could it be the card os overheating or anything? i dont really know how to tell if the fan on the card is even running or if its another problem all together. any help would be great :)

Download ATI tools and check the temperature and post it here. Also you can use ATI tools to override the fan settings if you think it's still overheating.

49C is your Core, 46C is your GPU environment temperature, and 54% is the speed of the fan. Try opening the 3d window, and see what the temperatures go to.

It's saying: GPU Core is at 70C, GPU Environment is at 52C, and the Fan is at 80%.

Not horrible, but not amazing (about the GPU Core @ 70C). If you set the fan to be at 100% by the time it reaches 70C, that would help ocol it down. However, the noise might be a little unbearable.

this is what im seeing. what should i change here?

Override Fan speeds, make sure "dynamic based on temperature is selected. Then, enter these values:
0C: 30%
30C: 40%
45C: 50%
50C: 60%
55C: 70%
60C: 80%
65C: 90%
70C: 100%

If you want it to sound like a vacuum cleaner :). You could, it just might be a bit aggravating. I have my card at 100% all the time, but the stock coolers on your card sound really loud at high rpms.

ha ha I put it and its sooo loud. But oh well huh better than frying my card :D

One last thing, is it bad for the fan to be running at its highest rpm all the time and uh did it raise the rpms of the cpu fan as well?
