Overkill and a waste? Or a good choice?

So, I know quite a bit about computers but keeping up with the details of every part and system is a challenge, so here I am. So I'm going to keep my computer (see signature), for a little while as with some recent upgrades and overclocking I'm happy with it, as I can pretty much max every new game I have. It won't last well for another 5 years, but I might get another year out of it before running new games is a challenge. Requirements seemed to plateau for a while and recently took a jump, as did the look of games. The last thing I'm considering before starting to buy parts for a new computer or saving up, is upgrading to a gtx 970. Please don't advise AMD as I'm set on Nvidia right now. No I'm not looking at a new one I plan on getting a used one that runs at around $250 Canadian right now here in the city. So what I'm wondering is... is that going to be overkill for the rest of my system? A waste of time and most of all, money? Or would it go well with my 6300 at 4.1 ghz with 16gb of DDR3 Ram at 2100mhz? As far as I know the 6300 and the gtx 770 came out around the same time so I'm not sure. Thanks for the help gents and any ladies that may be on here.

Hey sorry guys I quickly looked at the post. At memory express where I usually shop it's on for $309. But then I always buy a warranty and cheap tax yes but that racks it up to around $350-360. Anyways yeah I think id rather do that than buy a used one that might die on me in 3 months and then what do I do. I can sell my 770 for $150 here, so that would make it a $200 touch if it gets sold quickly for a huge improvement. However my main question is.. is it going to bottleneck on my computer a lot? If so I'd rather just start saving for a new computer.

/facepalm. That ncix link literally has the evga card for $260... and comes with free shipping (via a coupon for this weekend deal [FS2NV6]).

Probably not if you OC it a lot. There will be some bottleneck, but if you're only gaming at 1080p, you should be fine.

I'd rather just start saving for a new computer.
That might be a better idea.

Don't bother with Memory Express warranty.. all reputable brands are covered for minimum 1 year and others, (MSI for example gives you 3-6 month extra warrenty buy registering online on top of the 1 year.) ZOTAC might even do 2 year??

Yup, sell it local and offset the cost of the card, skip that MX warranty and buy in store even and then no shipping either.!!
