Overlocking Lenovo Ideapad Y500

Hello!

I am thinking it is wise to overlock my Lenovo Ideapad Y500 -laptop. Specs: Intel Core i7 3630QM (2.4 Ghz, with overlocking would be 3.4) CPU and Nvidia GeForce GT 650 SLI video card.

I'd like to hear opinions from people who have done overlocking with this same computer.

Well, is it safe? Do I need more coolers etc (and what kind of them)? Can I overlock to full 3.4 Ghz without any danger?

Thank you!

With laptops, you pretty much are stuck with what you got. Are there overclocking settings in the bios?

I would recommend against overclocking on a laptop, a core i7 mobile if is giving you issues doing work you need to do, you might be better off looking into purchasing a full fledged desktop that you can overclock. laptops are made to run in a tighter thermal envelope that will be broken by the overclock you are considering doing which will harm the hardware.

You probably can't overclock it anyway. I doubt the options in the BIOS are there. Don't know if you could use software or not but best not to try. As said before, it's a bit risky overclocking a laptop.
