i would like to ask if this motherboard P35 platinum supports ATA for hard disk. I connected the hard disk ata and it disconnected my dvd rom. And in the bios it showed the hard disk as IDE. My friend says that the ata cable is just to connect cd and dvd roms. Can someone tell me how to connect the ata hdd

You can use it for both hard drives and cdrom drives however the hard drive speed will be slower cause of the cdrom speed. Most likely you needed to adjust the jumpers on the drives. The hard drive should be jumpered to master and the cdrom to slave. I would invest in a SATA hard drive and leave the IDE cable to the cdrom drive.
