Hi people... I am building a computer for the first time and I need help on processor choice. I have narrowed it down to two processors...

The Pentium 4 (Northwood) 2.8GHz, HT, 1MB, 800 FSB

and the

Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2Ghz 400FSB

I do video editing and graphics programs, NOT GAMES. If anyone knows which one would be better for me, please let me know and if they have any motherboard reccomendations, please let me know also... THANKS!

1. The NorthWoodC only had 512K of cache. So either that's a typo or you meant Prescott

2. Either way i think the advantage swings in favor of the P4 although if its the P4E (Prescott) you'll have to make damn sure yu have some good cooling. With the AMD system, it's quite comparable however OCing (and cooling) might be a consideration. For that kinda stuff you're doing I would think the P4C-2.8 to be the best all around chip for the job.
