P4 temp and fan speed

Hello, I got a P4 530J 3.0Ghz socket 775. It's running at 51C when idle, and over 70C when full loaded. my friends said it's too hot. Is this true? I use the stock heat sink and fan that came with the CPU. The fan speed ranges from about 2000rpm to 2500rpm. No matter how hot the CPu is , the fan never goes higher than 2600rpm. I heard from other people saying that their CPU fan speed can go over 5000rpm. I doubt if my cpu fan is defective?
Can u guys give me true information, thanks.

about the temperature; yeah it's damn high, try putting some thermal paste or cleaning the fan a little bit and tell me how high is the vcore

about the cpu fan; there are different kind of fans like silent fans that run around 2000rpm so they don't make much noise, mine doesn't go above 3000rpm

the vcore is 1.432 ~ 1.44 . How do i clean the fan? The fan and heat sink came in the retail box with the cpu. there is no thermal paste, only a band sticking on it.

the voltage seems to be pretty low so I don't think voltage is the cause, well if you have that fan on your cpu for a long time (6 months), there can be dust on it and slowing it down, but i don't think that that is the problem

have you tried to remove the heatsink from processor to see if there is any thermal paste between cpu and heatsink, if not, there should be, and i didn't get the thermal paste with the cpu i had to go and buy it

On the CPU manual it says this model doesn't need to apply thermal paste, there is already a thermal sticky on the heat sink.

by the way, I dont think it's the heat conducting problem. I touched the heat sink, it's very hot! So I think that the problem is at the fan. The fan is not strong enough to bring enough airflow. that's my guess.

just as a note, the thermal greese they put on there is not the best, 3rd party stuff (eg artic silver) is better

Do you have a good air flow in you case,
try picking up a replacement or 3rd party fan/hsf

Should be 1.4V @ stock, it's not high enough to cause those temps but what program are you checking this with?
What is the ambient temperature?

wow.. and why if i may ask?

anyway,.. is it a new pc? of did it start laterly to run at those temperatures (so did it run cool before?)

and, make shure all those fans you have in the case, are blowing in 1 direction. like pulling aire ino the case in the front and top, and blow it out on the back and the side.

so make shure that not all the fans are just blowing air into the case, because that doesnt help much ;)
