P45 or X48 for new build?

I have read lots of different things on this. Some people say that the full crossfire makes a difference some people say it doesnt.I know that the p45 is supposed to OC higher which is what I am mainly interested in due to making a long term build with a quad that I am planning .Still not sure about running more than 1 video card.I am also planning on getting a larger monitor (1900 X 1200) but If the hd 4870 X2 is really good when it comes out I may just settle for that one at that resolution.I hate the feeling of buying 2 lower cards when 1 higher would work as good and have higher resale value.Although with crossfire you can buy another of those cards when the price drops to extend life of system.Hmm Anyone have any opinions on this?

Get the X48, its a more high end chipset. It is about the same as the X38, if not the same but only binned higher.

From what i have seen, its a better overclocker.

yeah, ive heard that the x48 is a better overclocker too, but i dont have any experience with either of them, just letting you know what ive heard

Yep I was just reading an article off of Toms about the p45 performance is dissapointing.I guess with the X48 its nice to have the option of Crossfire even if you dont need to.

Also I was reading that quadfire isnt that good is this correct?Would it be better to have a Hd4870 and a Hd4870 X2 in the slots instead of two 4870 X2's?

the slots dont really matter, from what ive heard even though the p45 runs at pci 2.0 8x whereas the x48 runs at pci 16x 1.0, the data transfer rates come out to be about the same, and why would an hd 4870 x2 have to go with the 4870, it would just be like running three of the 4870's because the x2 version is just 2 of the newest ati core on one slab of pcb

I thought the X48 runs at 2.0 X16 both slots.2nd part is how well will the Hd 4870 X2 will scale with another Hd 4870X2 and if performance would max with just another HD 4870 ( this is speculation really from what I have seen on other forums though)
