P5n-e SLI issues with power :(

I've read about the maximum operating temperatures for mobo's and the chip im running (a Q6600) and was having problems with the computer shutting dont randomly. Eventually I found this was due to dust but today did the same thing. The computer is spotless inside but the CPu was running at 65 C idle :( My sytem then shut down and refuses to boot. The mobo lights come on but the fans, hard drive or anything else refuses to respond when the power button is pushed. I allowed the CPU to cool and applied more thermal paste and tried the power again to no avail.

I'm stuck for any idea as to what is wrong with the system.

I had this issue with my fiance's P5NSLI and the crappy case it was in. The really hot days it would crash and the next day nothing would power up, but the lights and such were on, on the mobo.

Unplugged the atx connector and reconnecting fixed this issue for me. This was reproducible for me every single time. Couldn't get an answer for why, but moving to a better ventilated case seems to have stopped it.

Sorry for late reply but I'm using a friends computer.

I've never overclocked the computer, never had the need to with the general performace from it.
The case I'm currently using is a large Thermaltake Soprano with 2x 22cm fans and a side mounted 12cm so I dont think ventilation is the problem :S

Possibly try going into hardware monitor in your bios and setting cpu fan to 100%, as if your using the stock fan your temperatures are gonna be pretty warm to begin with, and setting the fan speed at 100% will cool it a little bit better;)

I would but the computer won't even post. Nothing responds at all. Im starting to think I've fried the chip or mobo somehow :S

Did you try what I mentioned? Remove the power cable from the power supply, wait a few seconds, then remove the atx cable (24 pin) from the motherboard. Put it back in, put the psu cable back in and try to boot up. That was repeatable on my board and worked every time. Try it and see if it will at least get you to boot.

currently im having the same issue with my mobo, but the thing is i've bought it new =\
i pressed the power on button, nothin happens beside the cpu/gpu fan spinning for a split half second.

try what nightrain says, then reset the bios by removing the cmos battery, or if you have one of the cmos reset buttons, press that
