P5W DH Deluxe Different SATA colours?

On my Asus P5W DH Deluxe I have black, red and orange SATA ports with red and orange SATA cables.. which should I use!? I can't find any difference.. The orange does have some weird metal thing on it..
 
Read the manual. It's probably something like mine where some are using one chipset, some are using another. It really doesn't matter, though, which you use. I just like using the ones off the main chipset and disabling the others.
 
Good question. The 7-series southbridge supports 4 SATA connectors natively. That board according to Newegg has 2 additional RAID controllers on board, but it doesn't list what they do. I want to say that the black ones are definately connected to the Intel Southbridge, One of those might be designed to be connected to an external Sata connector (I think you kinda described it),and maybe the other two tied to another chip? Doesn't make sense...and I couldn't find the answer exactly for you just peeking around.
 
Thanks for the help - I read somewhere that the Orange SATA use less auxiliary power and are somehow "more safe" to use..
