Paint my Monitor?

Is there any way to paint my monitor (From boring beige to black)? if i were to attempt this, what type of paint would I use, and what precautions would i take to keep the paint away from the guts of my monitor? Probably not possible, but thought i would ask in case anyone has done this before.

wat type LCD or CRT
i think you can do it with a LCD since you can just cover the screen and not really many holes
but a CRT would be hard..b/c of all the openings like in the back...
and i think spray paint would work the best so there wont be any noticable paintstrokes if you use regular paint.

CRT... the only way i can think of is to dissassemble the case for the monitor, paint it, and reattach it. But, I have never done that, so i have no idea how complex it is. Was hoping somebody has a better idea. Thanks for the quick response!

I've always heard that crt tv's and presumably monitors store electricity even when they are off (I don't know if this is in a capacitor or what) so you might give yourself a nasty jolt if you're not careful

I might scrap the idea... ill probably be hunting for another monitor in the not to distant future anyways...

Also, SOMEWHAT offtopic question, seeing as this thread is active already ill ask it here:

I just ordered my new computer, going to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. (relevant) Specs are as follows:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ Socket 939
Motherboard: ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard
Ram: 2 Gigs (1 gig x 2) Kingston DDR400 PC3200
HD: Western Digital 250 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache
Video Card: ATI Sapphire Radeon X1300, PCI Express (256 MB version)

Im aware ( i think ) that my video card will be the weak link in this system, but dont have the budget to put anything better in at the moment... I currently dont play any too demanding games (mainly play DAOC, which is very ram and CPU hungry, but my video card will be fine for that), but FEAR and Farcry look tempting, am I going to be able to run these games? How will they look/perform on this system.

Thanks in advance guys!

The X1300 won't get you an enjoyable framerate in such demanding games, I'm sorry.

thanks, thats next on my list to upgrade... on the other hand it will probably do a better job than my 32 meg geforce go... lol

Yes thats true, but just painting it wouldn't give any jolt, only if you opened it up, and then still maybe.

The first concern would be paint covering the ventilation holes or even getting inside the holes and the second concern would be getting paint on the screen.

i think that if you didnt really care too much about the monitor, you could probably get away with it. just spray from pretty far away and i doubt youll do any harm to anything. and yea, just cover the screen...but you could always use a razor to scrape anything extra off.

I painted my CRT monitor from beige to black, all i did was use masking tape and tape up the holes in the back, and taped up the screen, then painted away. Came out pretty good, just make sure to use several layers of tape on the monitor since some can come through.

Masking tape is very easy to come off also, no need to use a razore to scrape it. I jsut had to peel it off. I also painted my case maroon, which also came out pretty good.
