paint problem

hey i was using paint the other day then all of assuden every time i try to open it it come up with paint has encouterd a error and need to close i restarted my pc switched it of loads of times still teh same message any clues to get it back up again

Step 1: Remove the paint component by going to: Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components > Accessories and Utilities > Accessories > Details... uncheck the paint component

Step 2: Add the paint component by going to: Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components > Accessories and Utilities > Accessories > Details... check the paint component

repair windows or revert to your last restore point.

This is XP right? Just boot off the windows CD and select "repair current windows installation" when the prompt comes up.

well that's a problem

try to restore it to the last restore point and see if that does it. Go into your event log and post the actual error report. It might tell us what is really going on
