Partition Table and MBR issues Win 7

Hey everyone,

I would really appreciate some help right now.

About a month ago my system went unresponsive. The cursor wouldn't move, the HDD LED was stuck on, I was just on my desktop, about to open a new program and it died. After giving it a few mins and hoping in vain that it would respond again I hit the power reset button.

When the machine came back on i was greeted with a lovely message saying that no OS was found. In with the install disk, repair, start-up repair and then being told that the problem cannot be automatically fixed. The details listed the problem as a corrupted/missing partition table. The machine then 2 days later decided to work perfectly again.

Yesterday the same thing happened without the freeze up before. Unfortunately as well as the partition table going this time the MRB has gone too. I cant fix the MBR with the auto repair or using the CMD commands (http://www.osopinion.com/f17/how-resolve-%93bootmgr-missing-windows-7-a-344) because without the table windows will not recognise the install anyway.

Please help guys, the drive is only 15 months old.

Test your hard drive. Just because it's 15 months old doesn't mean it can't be bad.

I did do a few tests with different programs, off the top of my head I remember them all saying that it was OK. But when I ran a Linux live USB (think i was mint 14) it came back with a worrying 600 or so bad sectors. I plan to replace the HDD, in fact I was going to in 2 weeks, but now I cant even get it to mount to transfer things.
