Hello everyone
I'm in serious trouble, finally got BSOD after attempting to resolve the issues with my notebook.
Please help,
2006 Acer Aspire 3690
1gb ram 1mb cache 1.73mhz intel celeron M
60gb HDD
Phoenix BIOS setup utility V.2.90
Vga Bios version: intel v1264
originally with XP mediacenter, but swapped for XP pro sp3
I regularly used CCleaner and AVG
It started with slowing down of pc. After launching XP the HDD disk check screen came up, but did not progress, stayed at 0%. Had to restart. Skipping that I managed to get in. AVG 8.0 was installed, the scan didn't find anything.
Windows update was off(last update 2009.12.11.) Security center was off. System restore off.
I had xpantispy software installed, been used for long time.
I uninstalled it.
I installed NOD32, ran a scan. It found 4-5 files (casino smthg.) got them fixed. turned on the live scan/defending feature.
Nothing changed.
Downloaded spybot, neither that found anything.
I downloaded all the windows updates including explorer 8.0. which I immedeatly deleted.
Turned on Automatic updates and Security center.
Uninstalled Nod32 and Spybot.
After relaunching the system a couple of times it kept telling me that there is a security update to download. I did it and been asked to restart. I hit the restart later button.
After 2 minutes it restarted, got to the XP screen then the Blue Screen Of Death. It suggests that there may be a problem with the partMgr.sys file. Tried the safe mode, but after loading the drivers nothing happens.
I tried to boot from two different XP cd/dvd-s, but again, after loading the drivers it says the disk might be demaged. I have tried the repair/recovery option no luck..
I have also tried the acer back up disks but same story again.
I previeusly had hardware issues. 1.Using a PCMCI card, because ethernet socket dead. 2. Usb power surge on current hub port. -I turned off the usb at deviece manager and hit the reset or ignored the message.
Now I am clueless and desperate
Any help will be appreciated
Thx ahead
Tony
