Passphrase, Vista and Wireless Networks

Hello!

We have just brought me a new laptop. It is a Packard Bell with Vista and contains an internal wi-fi connection.

We already have a network of two desktops- one as an access point with a Netgear Modem and one connecting with the wireless. However, try as we might we cannot get the Laptop to connect.

It sees the Network and then asks us for our passphrase which we then enter- however, it tells ue everytime that our passphrase is incorrect. The most we get is "Connected with Limited Connectivity" yet Signal Strength is excellent.

We are 100% sure that the passphrase is correct, we are doing everything right yet it will not connect properly.

The Desktops are both XP and we are wondering that it might be something to do with Vista having different encryption. We are not sure what to do next and are rather frustrated. Some help would be greatly appreciated!

Vista has added network security protocols that I have read about causing problems with older routers/APs. I would google search your model of wireless router/AP and see if there are any known issues with vista.

The article I read was several months ago and was published on BBC's website. sorry I don't have a link.

go to the router manufacturers homepage and check for compatability problems with the router and vista most router manufactureres have this on there page either right there or you have to search the page for it
