ive been searching the net for a tool for XP that lets me make any file or folder a READ-ONLY, with password protection. AND, most importantly, the protection should remain in real-DOS mode too (i mean the real thing DOS, not just the cmd window in XP. Its possible to boot XP machine into DOS by tools like NTFS4dos etc.) so far ive had no luck though ive tried several tools like Dark Files, Folder Lock etc. Most of them cant protect files in DOS and if one can it doesn't have ability to make the file READ-ONLY, it just hides or locks it... its important to be able to make the file READ-ONLY, not hide it or something, and to keep the protection alive in DOS.... its very easy to delete file in DOS even though its protected in XP. I think this is a quite big security hole for file protection sofware...
