so...i have a laptop, its an old school pavilion, windows 2000 pro. NEVER used a password before, dont have a user account besides the original "admin" so i went to turn it on yesterday (friday) and it promts me for a password, wtf? i've tried typing administrator, (read to do this on another forum) and it didnt work
THIS IS MY COMPUTER, its NOT hot.
can anyone offer suggestions? i would just reformat the computer but i dont have a windows 2000 disc.

can a pavilion with 128mb of ram and 9 gig harddrive run XP?
 
It CAN. BUT first try this: Boot up in safe mode. While its is booting, keep hitting F8. When it boots up, here should be a nother user, called admin or somthing. trty using that to create a new account. Instead of f8, f12 might work. i know this works on XP, but not sure on 2000...
 
It can run XP, but a memory upgrade is severely recommended if you are planning to run XP on it.
