Paying for WinZip-Since when?

Hope this is the right place for this question. Have had computers for over 12 years now and have never had a problem downloading stuff until now. I want to download a program called the Tinnitus(ear ringing)Tamer.

I go to C.Net and the site itself and try to download and it tells me my 45 day trial for WinZip has expired and now I must pay for it. Is this true? Never had this problem before. Thanks!

It's always been at least shareware with a nag screen, last I knew, but it kept working.
Then again, I'm using version 8.1 from 2001, so maybe newer versions are time-limited.

The new versions (since version 14 I think... don't use it myself so can't say for sure) don't work after the expiry date.

You could get a free program like 7-Zip that handles zip files as well. It's not quite as refined as far as looks go, but it's fully functional and you never have to worry about getting some nag screens or having to pay. Also, if you compress stuff yourself the 7zip format is better than zip (on par with RAR archives).

This is what I would do (or just use the built in zip handling that Windows has had since MS licensed it back in 1998).
