my buddy has a computer he wants to reinstall xp on, but when the setup starts to run, the whole system shuts down. here's what i know:
xp pro is on it now.
when he boots off the disc, setup installs all the drivers necessary (you can see them all loading at the bottom of the screen), and then asks you to hit enter to start the install. as soon as you hit enter, the computer shuts off.
the drive is a 300g maxtor ide drive less than a month old.
anyone ever heard of this? it's like the enter button acts like the power button. we've tried xp home, pro, and mce with the same results each time.
