PC Dropping Internet Signal

My four and a half year old Dell Inspiron 580 with Intel I7 core has always worked satisfactorily, at least until recently. For some inexplicable reason it suddenly drops the internet connection. I know it's the PC because all other devices (Netflix, wife's tablet, etc.) continue working using the same modem. If I reboot, all works well again. I'm not particularly computer savvy, but I know enough to perform simple tasks like cleaning, adding RAM, etc. Where should I begin my search to fix this problem. I really don't want to purchase a new PC, particularly if the problem is a simple fix. Tanks in advance for any comments.

What NIC are you using, the integrated one? Sometimes those can flake out or fail.

You can try another ethernet cable or port on the router, if the issue still exists there are gigabit NICs as add-on cards that aren't too expensive (~$40) such as :
