PC for Kid

I am trying to purchase a computer for my kid. All I want is a simple computer that can be used for playing some games (both cd and online), homework and internet. I am looking to keep the price low. (under $500 estimate). I did see the Dell E521 but I'm not sure if there are better products out there for less. I do also need to purchase a monitor with the system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Usually such package system isn't the cheapest although safer to buy.

If you drop by Sim Lim Sq in Singapore, you can get a better system DIY for cheaper but you may have to know a little about pc.

The other problem I have experienced with 'branded' pc is you would have difficult to upgrade or add cards, etc. yourself.

If ur looking for a PC for 500$ chances are its gonna be hard have it last longer then 2 years and for 500$ the lastest online games i'm all most positive won't be playable. However you can find a few pakages around that would be viable as a starter. I think ur main concern will be getting the monitor out of the way they last the longest ( i see people still using CRT's ) then finding a low-cost but perhaps upgradable PC.

Yeah. because he really lives in Singapore doesn't he!

Thanks

I am not quite that computer savvy. I would love to build it but I am trying to purchase the computer ASAP as my kid's birthday is coming up. He is only 13 so I don't think he needs something very extensive for his games. So would the E521 be a viable solution?

Yeah, it seems that you don't want to build (no offence)! But i would get him the E521. And tell him happy birthday from me.:D
