PC Freezes during games - Hardware Issue

I've reformatted the computer and it still occurs. The MAX I see the CPU run at is 40 degrees celcius (Athlon 64 3000+). So it must be either the video card, memory, or PSU not being powerful enough.

I've only noticed it during gaming, although most of the time I use the computer is gaming. 1gb ram and a 6800 LE, running on a 420W power supply.

Any thoughts?

Also, what is the max load temp I should be running at?

Check GFX load temps with Rivatuner or Pcwizard. If you suspect the RAM, You can either run memtest or a program like Prime95. P95 will tax both the processor and the RAM (under the right settings, you can check it's wiki page for more info on that) but not the graphics card, which makes it a nice process of elim. test.

The load temps are fine, your proc can handle much hotter without problem. Unless that PSU is craptastic or failing, I dunno that it'd be the problem.

Don't use the newest Nvid driver with that card. WHQL 169.21 doesn't seem to pose an unstable element with older cards but I've only experience with older 7 series, you might should go back further.

Prime95 ran for 3 hours with 0 errors on CPU and RAM, new kind of freezing, sometimes the SCREEN will freeze, and I can still talk on VOIP programs for a little bit, then the entire PC freezes. Does this sound like the video card to you as much as it does to me? If so I'll just get a new one.
