Today, I went over to a friend's place to help his tuition teacher repair his computer, or rather, to get it working, since he just upgraded.
And, well, thanks to ComputerForum.com, I've picked up quite a few hardware tips and managed to get the computer running, as initially, it couldn't even turn on, and the PSU is new too.
PSU was 450W, so it shouldn't had been the problem.
Then it leaves us to the wiring, the part where I was a little confused as I have no hands-on experience, but a little contextual knowledge.
So I played with the wires, looked at the motherboard for the mini words printed in white to check if I had put the correct wires in place, and then I "screwed-up" the PSU and it started working miraclously!
However, there was one problem.
When I plugged the monitor up, a CRT monitor, it was no signal at first.
Then the monitor lamp (uh, the light that indicates that the monitor is on) started blinking, and then I thought to myself, oh-no.
So, can someone list the possibilities of what might be happening?
1) monitor too old and not compatible?
2) problem lies with CPU? (unlikely, everything was running smoothly, only no monitor)
3) suggest some?
Thanks for your help guys!
