Pc not booting

Hi Guys n gals - 1st time on this forum. I hope i can get a solution to a problem I've got currently on one of my computers. This computer is a 2.6MHz celeron with 2 HDD, 1 fixed and the other removable. The removable HDD used to go through checkdisk everytime the computer is booted, so I thought I could resolve this problem by running some dos utils - I ran a utility and the next thing I see when I boot up my pc "ntldr missing - ctrl, alt del to restart".

I searched google and on the 1st link it suggested I copy this file from the setup cd, which I tried but it did not allow me to copy from repair consol on setup window. I tried many option and to my suprise nothing worked, I still can't get those files copied onto the disk - eventually I format and copied windows XP pro and again same story - after copying the windows files and when restarts the computer has a blank screen and does nothing. I set the BIOS to boot off HDD and I get the same message.
Can someone please help me resolve this challenge.
Thanks
