PC problem after restarting

Hey fellas lately I have been having problem with starting my PC from "SLEEP" mode. I have windows vista. I press "ENTER" to start up the computer from sleep mode but my monitor power button just keeps on blinking and nothing comes up. When I restart the computer I get a message saying "Windows had a problem.......Would you like to start windows in safe mode, regular mode or with networking.........." or something like that.

I have the Samsung 226BW monitor. By the way someone told me hybernating or sleep is not good for the pc. He told me I should just shut it down instead. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I never bother with standby here. Obviously being that Vista is new it still has a few "bugs" that need to be worked out. In the F8 start menu you have the last known in XP that works with the older version. You still have the system file checker and some new repair features when booting with the installation disk(recovery if preinstalled).

So far the "custom" profile for power seems to be the best suited. There you use the "never" settings for performance and save the profile. I shut this one down for actual sleep since it runs the remaining hours day+night.

i never had any problems with sleep or standby.... i either click or move the mouse or press space bar on keyboard to wake it up....i do remember in beta they had troubles..but i'm pretty sure there fixed now...
