Hey, let me give you some background information. My problem is that my PC runs absolutely fine if I'm just browsing the Internet or watching YouTube videos, but as soon as I go to play a game such as DayZ, Borderlands 2 or for example the Planet Side 2 beta, my PC just shuts down without warning, my screen just goes black and its kinda' scary every time it happens, can anybody help me please? It was fine until I installed my new Graphics card. I've heard it could be an overheating problem but my PC does not feel hot at all. Please help me, thankyou.
My PC specs:
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor (3.3GHz)
RAM: 8GB
Graphics card: GTX 660Ti
PSU: 850W (Not sure about the make)
Windows 7 Home premium.

Start up MSI afterburner and crank up the GPU fan to say 50%+ and try the games. It could be that your card is running too hot. More RPM will make it cooler.

I had this same issue (though crashing in game) just 2 days ago. It stemmed from AMD drivers not even turning the fan on, much less cooling the card. Afterburner at 50% keeps it at 60*C under load now.

Is your gpu totally new or second hand? If it's not new, be sure there's no dust under the fan between the heatspikes. Look also to the cpu heatsink and blow all dust out of it.
You may want to check your temps first with software like AIDA to see temperatures from both.

I will try both your suggestions later today. It came to me also that it must be temperature related.
The card is a second hand. Never really checked udner the fan :(
Thankyou!

Yeh, it can be the previous owner didn't blow dust away under the fins before selling.

This exact problem happened to me last week I kid you not. The fan bearings on my GPU went. luckily mine was within warranty but if yours isn't and it is the fan (not software) for sure look at aftermarket coolers before binning it.
