Pc Refusing to turn on

Stupid heatwave just broke my pc i think, but am not sure which part of my pc it broke.. I am thinking it's the PSU. When i plug my pc in nothing on the motherboard lights up and theres no high pitched noise(used to happen for the first 3-5 seconds after plugging the PC in) I've tried different power points and different power supply cables.. You guys reckon it's the PSU?

Erm don't have a spare one sitting about, guess i'll just go buy one, assuming theres no tests u can do to check ur psu?

Just noticed theres a light on, on the motherboard which says SB_POWER underneath it... So now i'm worried it's my motherboard that's died, because that means that the power supply must be distributing some power.. Only bought this one 2 months ago grr

sounds like the PSU its happened to me before, switch it out..hope for the best. If not.. then id say maybe the MB

Might have to do that then, cheers for the help, i have the same setup as you pretty much actually except my cpu isn't as good

well you can check also with a voltmeter. but you have to know how to use it properly to make sure your testing it correctly and i unfortunatly dont remember exactly where to stick the two probes in to check it. :(

look up that error. to be competly sure about it

I believe now that SB_Power is the standby power Light and probably should be lit when the PC is in a standby state.. My PSU isn't that great and really should be bigger to handle my PC so it's not a complete waste if it is the MOBO so i'll go check that out, Thanks for the multimeter suggestion but those things are too complicated for me hehe

Got a new PSU now.. Just looking at it and it has the slots in the back which the air comes out of but theres a huge fan on top of the thing.. Should i hack a hole in the top of my case so that fan can suck in air and push it out the other exit or is it meant to just circulate the air inside the psu using the back panel opening

I think inside the PSU fan cage is a thing that regulates air flow. I'm not too sure however. See what the manufacturer recommends.
